Third in extent and fourth in population (76.319 residents), prefecture of Crete.
It is said that the prefecture of Lasithi includes elements from the remainder three prefectures, composing thus its unique and multifaceted natural beauty.

This particular beauty was the gift that the "God Zeus" gave to Lasithi as being the first place that accepted him in its cave, when "Goddess Rea" was transported into the Dictaean Cavern in order to give him birth.
