Vai stands on Eastern coast of Crete, known as the unique beach in Europe with the palms. The palm forest is the biggest in continent, extended on 250kmq, until the sea.

According to the official scientific interpretation, the palms are the result of accumulation of many fruits, that was left there by the equipment of Napoleon Bonaparte’s fleet when stranded in the peaceful gulf of Vai, returning from the Middle East.
Open from sunrise until the sunset daily.
Vai is being protected by Natura 2000
